about us

Explore the people and places behind all those pretty travel pictures through sustainable travel.

With so many travel blogs out there, we started Travel Culture to add something that was missing from the conversation: sustainable travel.

Inherently, travel can cause a lot of unsustainable effects. For example, it can increase carbon footprints, inflate cost of living for locals, and displace wildlife. But we also know travel can be amazing! It can help you learn about yourself, explore other cultures, and fall in love with new people, places, and aspects of the world.

So, how do we make travel sustainable?

There are three facets to sustainability: ecological, economic, and social. Let’s look at how we can apply this to travel.

  • Ecological – Reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the natural environment.
  • Economic – Keeping tourism dollars local, so our travel goes directly to the people and destinations we visit.
  • Social – Respecting different cultures and supporting initiatives that aim for social equity.

I’m originally from Venezuela and moved to the States when I was young.

I started traveling with my parents at a young age, so it’s always just felt natural. Everyday-life was the break until my next adventure. No surprise: I’m still addicted to travel!

Favorite travel activities:

  • Climbing on/jumping off stuff
  • Petting local cats and dogs
  • Eating local foods

Growing up, I took a lot of road trips around the USA. I have traveled the entire coastline of my beautiful country (except the North).

It wasn’t until I was 25 that I made a big, long trip abroad after finishing my master’s degree. I loved it so much, I moved to Spain! Currently I’m working my way around Europe.

Favorite travel activities:

  • Reproducing tv/movie scenes in their filming locations
  • Learning local legends
  • Stumbling upon local fairs
